INSPIRE, RECOGNIZE, REWARD
The AWARE Foundation was founded in 1989 by private citizens to reward exceptional teachers in the Arlington Independent School District. AWARE stands for Arlington Will Award and Recognize (Educational) Excellence.
A COMMUNITY LED CAUSE
Comprised entirely of volunteers, the AWARE Foundation receives no public funds from AISD. The foundation receives teacher nominations from pre-kindergarten through high school for awards in five grade-level categories.
The nominated teachers are part of an extensive process of interviews and classroom observations. AWARE recognizes all nominated teachers and awards a cash prize to the winner and runner-up in each category at its annual banquet.
At the Awards Banquet all teachers who have been nominated this school year will be recognized and honored. Typically, a winner and runner-up are selected from each of the five categories of Pre K – 1, 2nd through 4th, 5th and 6th, Junior High and High School. However, the AWARE Foundation reserves the right to determine the number of categories and grade levels within each category based on the number of nominations received.
Winners will receive $3,000 each; and runners-up $1,500 each for unrestricted-use. Numerous door prizes for actively employed Arlington ISD teachers will also be given.
